Semi-Custom Question

I have been considering getting more into custom/handmade knifes and moving away from only production knives. Is there a middle ground between production and custom knives? Is there a semi-custom category that I can use as a stepping ground between the two. I have a Chris Reeve Sebenza and I was wondering would you consider this a semi-custom?

If there is such a category what other knives would you consider semi-custom?

I would consider the Chris Reeve Sebenza to be a very high end production folder just like the Strider SNG and the Hinderer Xm-18 to be very high end production knives..I guess here is a sense of "custom-ness" to them.

I can see the Strider SNG in the same category as the Sebenza but wouldn't you have to put the Hinderer XM-18 in the custom category?

Just my opinion, I would keep the Hinderer in the same category as the Sebenza and the Strider.

Why do you think the XM-18 fits into the custom category? Rick Hinderer has a selection of knives you can pick out of, which hardly seems custom to me. http://www.rickhindererknives.com/

I guess when I say custom I am saying hand made, limited production, and such. Maybe I am wrong and knives like these are semi-custom.

Busse knives when bought new are customizable. Swedge/no swedge/ choil/no choil, handle color and material, finish, pommel, the amount of combinations is huge. It's not often you find identical versions of the same model.

Try a Kirby Lambert folder. He is a custom maker but his folders can be had for a great price. I have two of his folders. The quality is as good as CRK. His folders are smooth and lock up like a bank vault. Here are mine.

I paid no more than any CRK and strider cost me for these.

Very nice Lambert's. His knives are on the top of my want list.
