I lurked around as a guest for a while, then as a registered user and during that time I sent an email to a member concerning convex sharpening. He responded quickly, and the next evening we had about an hour long phone call during which he shared all sorts of info on the subject. I could not resist the friendliness and signed up for gold the next day.
I was sort of in the game years ago, so long that I have had a Spydie Worker from the time it went on the market, but just now getting back in and have learned an amazing amount of stuff here already. Not a maker, not really a collector, and not sure what I am! But I am sure for some reason I just love knives!

I do need some advice about posting images. I don't think I can just upload from my hard drive. Is that right? Do I have to establish a page on photobucket or some similar site?.

I have many other questions but will ask them as I learn more about the Forum.
Thanks for having me here.
Tom

Welcome, Tom. As you've already found out, there are some great people here and info on just about anything knife related. Even after being here for a while I still find myself learning new things all the time. I truly appreciate those here who are willing to share their knowledge of and passion for knives.

As far as posting pics, you should be able to upload directly to BF as a paying member. Click on 'Go Advanced' when replying and scroll down until you see Manage Attachments. Once you open that, you can upload images and attach them to your post like this.

There are image and file size restrictions though, so I generally prefer to use Photobucket. All you have to do is copy the IMG code that they provide and paste it into your post. This tutorial gives a pretty in depth explanation of how to do it.

If you quote my post, you can see what the IMG code looks like.

Hi Tom -

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for becoming a gold member!

As a gold member, you can attach files to a post - you must be in the advanced mode (where you see the smileys on the right side).

Scroll down and you will see an area with "manage attachments" - that is where you upload files from your computer and BF will host them for you.

You only have a limited quota, so if you are a prolific picture poster, then you should learn the ropes of how to use a picture host like picasa and then reference your images there.

To include an image that is hosted at a remote site, you have to use image tags as follows:

Hello! Can't add much more to the hints, Photobucket has been working for me, so well in fact, that I signed up for the 3 year deal. Lets you do all sorts of stuff with the pics, ala Photoshop. Thanks for the supporting membership. Enjoy!
