I guess this is the subforum to put this...I mostly lurk in Shop Talk. This is my first post in M&T.

Got a used Cryo a little while back, and after getting it decided it was a little too vanilla, and required some customization. I originally planned to make a custom scale for the nonlocking side, but after debating on going through that process and having to loose the assist (I dont have the tools to mill out the spot for the spring) I decided to not make a new scale. It sat disassembled in a tub for a while. Recently I got inspired and did a two tone finish on the blade and a stone wash on the scales and thumbstud. Here is how it finished up.

A few in progress pics.

Blade flats finished to a smooth one directional 600 grit satin.

Scales attached to a board and ready for stonewashing. (Coffee can + Pea Gravel + Duct Tape + Large Blanket + 45min in Dryer method)

Here is how it turned out:

Sorry that I'm potentially reviving an old thread here, but question: did you use any kind of a stripping agent on the blade to take the coating off or did you just sand it?

Just sanded it, all wet sanding. Started at 220, went up to 1000, quick buff, then back to 600 to give it a nice even satin finish.
