Semi Skinner EDC WIP

Decided to make a bunch of Semi Skinners since I have fallen in love with one I built a short while ago. Starting with some .200 thick 5160 and planning on raiding my handle material supplies to build them up with different varieties of G10 and micarta. May find one or two with wood but not sure of that quite yet.

Little more work done today Fastener holes are drilled, weight reducing holes were piloted and drilled out, flats are finished out, and my name is stamped in. Bevels are next

I’m just making a run of these for general release I’m planning on using a variety of G10 and micarta colors for the handles. Some greens, black, natural micarta, maybe orange, and whatever else I find in my supply.

Got the pre heat treat bevels done today. The basic steps are rough 45 degree grinds to center followed by roughing in the bevels on an 8in wheel. After that the flats are established. They’ll get a little more grinding after heat treating but won’t get final finish till handles are done.

Is there one available in natural micarta (or maroon)? If so, then what would be the price?

Both the maroon and natural micarta aren’t spoken for yet. These will be $225 with a Kydex sheath when they are done.

Few more pics from today Was gonna be short and sweet in the shop and just profile grind the handles and trim the handle tubes but the 36grit belt was whining to be run fast. Busy day today! Lots of work done and I exceeded my work plan for the day I got all the blades ground a little more on the bevels and the handles are all cleaned up with rasps and files and now into the sanding steps. Even managed to get 7 of them to dang near done! Here are a few more pics. Some show the progress from step to step. The punches are used to slightly flare the tubes to create a tight mechanical hold on the scales.
