Now that I'm into the whole becker thing....well I picked up a bk-9 and I'm pretty impressed. No need to say much, as it's been more thoroughly reviewed than a stripper.

Any way I thought about cleaning up the blade and decided there was no harm in going part way just cuz. Here's my result, hard saying how long it'll stay like this but for the time being I like it.

the BK9 ''cleans up'' real nice!

I like the look...something different for sure! I hope it holds up for you OK for awhile at least

Pretty cool. Haven't see that before.

Thanks, been inspired by everyone else round here, and wanted to go for a sorta San mai look

What kind of a stripper did you use ?

I used klean-strip ks/3 "preminum stripper" it was ~$2 more than the standard stuff but claimed to be 2x as fast....no idea if that's true but I'm generally impatient so I went for it... Painted it on with a foam sponge brush, and let sit for ~20 minutes. a touch of scraping and what you is is what I got

Cheers! It'll look like this for a bit no matter what as I don't currently have any chopping tasks waiting

Agreed, that looks really good!
Thanks!

Looks good. I have a similar idea planned for my machax, though without the San-Mai look. Don't want to give away all the juicy details lol. Did you make the scales for the Bk14? They look killer.

I'm new to the Becker crowd also and also really digging my BK9. I bought it to strip and now I'm impressed with just how great a chopper it is. Your partial strip looks great!

You tease! lol! Strip it all, now! It's going to come off eventually!:D

no doubt, but as I've "heard" anticipation is half the fun....i'm add so I guess that's true ? but...?!!?!

Cool deal, it'll be fun to see the machax later, as for the scales- nope I bought em off the sales forum. While for a competent woodworker they probably aren't too special tricky but well worth the $'s for me- might even call em a bargain :) they do fit great

Thanks, it was super easy actually so u should go for it

That's a nice look for the BK-9. Very cool and unique. Good job, Cleans Up.

Thanks man, love the screen-name btw. I spent a bunch of years on the wasatch front and it's a worthy place :)

Sweet, that looks really cool.

Cheers!
