Sencut Crowley detent adjustment

Recently purchased a Sencut Crowley and when I received it, it would almost never actually engage the button lock unless I flung the knife open forcefully. After much flipping and breaking it, it now consistently locks open and locks close, however the detent is still very strong, and in order to close the knife, I have to press down the button with a lot of force and almost force it into the scales. The knife also has quite terrible button stick. Not sure if it is a problem with poor milling around the areas that contact the lock, or the hole for the button was drilled poorly, but whatever the issue may be, it is certainly annoying. Just curious if anyone had any advice on how to weaken the detent or try to speed up the break in further. Thanks in advance for any help

IMO your issues are very uncommon for that brand of knife. Rather than attempt a fix on your own, I’d contact the seller and exchange it for a flawless example. All WE/Civivi/Sencut dealers I‘m familiar with will make it right for the customer.

I got the civivi cogent and had similiar issues at first. I adjusted the pivot a little, that solved the engagement issue. The lock stick is still present, but it got better over the weeks just with normal daily use.

Dang, that's a lot of issues for a new knife. I'd try to exchange it for a new one if you can to save you the headache. If you're going to keep it I'd take it apart and clean out the grime that comes in most knives leftover from machining. Clean every piece with rubbing alcohol and put a very light coat of gun oil or whatever you got on all surfaces that rub against another surface. I put one drop on the very tip of a qtip and apply it with that, putting another drop on the qtip now and then. Also, drawing on the lock faces with a pencil will help sticky locks.

I figured that getting a new one would be the best approach, but since I'm not at home, I thought I would post and see if someone here had a similar issue that they fixed easily. Thanks
