Send in my 940-1?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a new Benchmade 940-1 and I've noticed two things that I'm thinking about sending the knife back to them to be fixed.

1) The bevel width is narrower at the handle, compared to the tip. It's only, at most, a 32nd off but still noticeable.
2) the blade is off center. It's not touching the cf scales, but I notice it.

Am I'm being too critical of these smaller flaws?

I do have a ZT 0770cf m390 and while not razor sharp out of the box, the fit and finish is tip top. With the cost of the knife, I figured the fit and finish would be the same as the ZT.

Thanks!

The centering might bug me a little but the bevels I've seen have been a little inconsistent - bevel wouldn't bug me.

The 940-1 isn't built to a higher standard than the 940 *I don't think*, it just has costlier materials.

Centering is a big issue for me.

I sent my mini Grip for off-centered blade and Benchmade fixed it with no problem.

I don't doubt they'll fix the bevel issue as well.

Just send it in.

i have a 940-1 with a noticeable recurve shape to the blade and i've been waiting for BM to contact me if it's something that can be replaced. usually they're very quick to respond to inquiries, but this time it's taken quite a bit of time.

It may be a pain but I would send it back in ... If enough people do so the final qc may hesitate before shipping off "it'll be awright" product.

I've noticed a slight recurve at the base of the blade, which I thought this was normal. Maybe that's why the bevel is narrower down there.

owning 940s in the past and having another 940-1 as well, i'm very familiar with the blade shape, and the one in question is definitely recurved which i'm not keen on sharpening.
