Send it in or not?

Hey everyone I have a pretty well used combat karambit that has seen better days and wanted to ask what you all would do if it were yours? G-10 is super worn down has late lockup and minor play and a couple stripped pocket clip screws. I'm debating whether or not just to list it on the exchange cheap or spend a little cash to fix it up.

I would spend a little and send it in for a spa treatment. It will come back functioning like new with all of those memories attached.

Hey Emerson Rep, do you know if they have the old style g10 scales still or do they only have the newer thick ones?

By all means have the lockup fixed, I'm just saying that I'd request that the scales, blade, and pivot be left as is.

That's exactly what I'd do in your position. I can't see the date but I can tell its older, and there's just something about the older ones with the smoother G10 and slim slotted pivot that I love.

It is a 2003 model. I have carried this thing on an off for the last 5-6 years so sounds like the best bet would be to send it in. I'll have to check out the warranty page and the fee's required.

Looks like I'm good to go to just pay a repair fee and shipping costs then. Thanks for pulling that up Silvanus. I just wonder if they still stock the old liners opposed to the newer karambit liners?

I would take it apart, clean it out, lube and reassemble while tightening the body screws starting from the farthest to closest to the pivot. That might fix your late lockup problem. Is still nogo, then send it in.

They will probably replace the liner with a brand new one. The new ones are pretty much the same as the older ones, maybe a hair thicker. I doubt they have any old ones on hand.

I think they would have to replace the g10 as well then. If you look @ the new models compared to the old ones the ring is considerably larger. But if that is my only option I wouldn't be opposed to it. I used to take it apart every couple weeks to clean it out and always tightened the screws farthest from the blade first. Thank you for the suggestion though!

I would call in the morning to make sure we have the liners available since your knife has the backspacer and not stand offs.

Okay cool. If for some reason none of the old liners are available what would be my other options?

Chances are they're in stock. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I just don't want to give you false info so a quick call would be good. By the way that knife looks great with the worn handles. To me, heavily used Emersons are like baseball gloves. Once they're so broken in, they're perfect.

Don't listen to them! Sell it dirt cheap on the exchange. Or cut to the chase and send it to me for super cheap.

Great looking knife by the way.

It looks great, man. Don't sell it! Fix her up and keep using her with a big smile every time you wave her.

I did decide I'm just going to send it in. I had to work late today so I didn't get a chance to call in and see if they still have the older version liners but I will be calling this week and sending it out early next week. I will take a few before and after pictures. Might just have to order me another emerson while I'm at it!
