Hey guys I'm not ready to sell yet but when I decide to, do you think it makes more sense to send my large sebenza in or sell as is. Currently there are no marks or scratches on the blade but I have sharpened it. But there are a lot of marks on the scales. They are micarta inlays and have normal wear on them from keys and such. No serious scratches tho. I'm thinking that after shipping and paying for a refurb and return shipping it might not be worth it. What do you guys think?

I personally like buying a knife that has been to the spa. For one, I like top put the wear on the knife myself to make it my own, and I am getting some reassurance that the knife has been inspected and good to go.

You will be more likely to sell it freshly returned from the spa. If I bought such a knife I would send it immediately to the spa and would expect it to be priced as such

I've sold a few users without much effort. You just have to consider the used price of one that's mint and then subtract the cost of shipping it to CRK and a spa treatment in case the new owner wants to do that.

Spa fresh knives are so amazing--especially when it's an older knife and comes back looking virtually brand new. If I was looking to buy a used knife, I'd prefer a restored one even if it cost more. I think there are plenty of customers looking for either scenario, though, so it really depends on how fast you want to get rid of it.

I'd rather buy a user at a bargain over a spa fresh one at full retail.

That's just the cheapskate in me talking though and I don't believe I've ever bought a user anyway....

I'd recommend sell as-is.
Some folks like the worn in look that is best achieved by time in the pocket.

I second that. It may cost you immediately to send it to the spa, but if you sell it as is, it could take some time to sell it. If I were buying a used sebenza, I would expect to be priced lower than one fresh from the spa. I personally like putting my own wear on it. Just my two cents.

Every time I read the words "spa treatment" I think: what are we, a bunch of women? :D

Lisantica has an excuse of course... ;)

Kind regards,

Jos

Hey, I pamper myself with a monthly 1 hr massage with a GREAT masseuse!!!! Super relaxing and great for my back. No muscle spasms for a couple of years now... absolutely worth the $65/month!

I'm jealous. As for my knives, I prefer I be the one fresh from the spa, not them.
