Sending Emersons off for resharpening

I want to send my CQC 8 and my Mini Commander in for resharpening, not that they are dull or anything they are quite sharp but I used them on a Lansky croc stick on the 25 degree angle but now that I have my Spyerco Sharpmaker I use the 20 degree angle and the edge does not touch the rod. Anyways I could have left that out but how much does it cost for them to resharpen it and can I say that I want it at so and so edge degree. Also my Mini Commander the liner lock has moved to the complete opposite edge of the blade tang, while nothing wrong with that I am kinda worried about it going completely out of the way of the tang and letting the blade unlock, could they make the liner lock go to about 50/50 lockup instead of 1/99. I am going to give the fine folks at EKI a call after the weekend but I thought that I would ask around here. And my Mini Commander is an '05 model so I am pretty sure that is Titanium liners, and one more question is the number below the thumb disc a sequential number meaning 1-2-3-4-5, because my Mini has the #1001 so I am just wondering. I know that these are alot of questions for one post but I have just had these questions in my mind but never asked them.

Thank you in advance

On mine and my buddy's Emersons the ground edge is 30º. I would use magic marker on the edge so you can see where on the blade/edge you're hitting. Using the Sharpmaker, place the sticks in the 40º slots. Holding the blade parallel with the right-side Sharpmaker stick stroke down the left-side stick. This will get you where you need to be.

As for the lockup, you need to wear the knife in. The lock'll start to move over with some use.
As for the # under the disc, that's the serial/production # of your knife. The year your knife was made should be under the Emerson logo. Mine is 1005 so it's the 1005 Snubby built in 2008.

I know where the year is on the blade and the lock is the opposite from what you are describing the lock has moved all the way over, while not a real problem it is just that I like my liner locks to be about the middle of the blade tang. and the marker trick is working but it is rare when I can get a shaving edge on my Emersons, on all my other knives it is easy but it seems I have to sharpen for awhile on my Emersons to get them to shave.

If my lock was all the way over I'd send it into Emerson. If you can't have confidence in your knife then why use it? I never got my Snubby to shave. Yet. I have an Edgepro Apex on the way so that may change. :)

Yeah I am going to call Emerson tomorrow and talk to them and see whats up and good luck with your Edgepro Apex let me know how it does.

Im not sure what the big one is but the smaller one is a "crock stick" there not bad and I have one my self but there is better stuff available TBH.

I use a falkniven stone the most for touch ups. If you have a commander, La griffe, 11 or kerambit then the crock
stick or a DMT stick will be a bit handier as doing a curved or recurved blade with a flat stone can be a bit of a mare.

i dont care for any of the systems for sharpening EKI's as the angle isnt right, i use a norton stone or a diamond stick and strop on an old phonebook, but anyway i just thinbk the sharpmakers/etc are the long way around the barn when it comes to sharpening EKI's, if ya follow the directions on the EKI website and practice a bit its really pretty simple anyway.

haze is right about recurves they can be a PITA with a flat stone but the diamond rods work great at recurves.
