Sending in a knife for a blade replacement?

Hi! I usually post over in the Becker sub-forum.

I've had this Benchmade 551 since I think 2006 or 2007. I carried and used it for years. Well I ended up on Benchmade's website looking around the other day and remembered that they have amazing service policies. I went and found this and decided to send it in to get a blade replacement, after seeing that it's $30. Since I have no use anymore for serrations my question is this: Can I request they install a separate blade for the $30, in this case a satin sheepsfoot blade?

I'd love to have that done if possible.

Here's a picture of the knife, you can see it's well loved.

Thanks!

I know you can get the original blade type the knife came with switched ie: a serrated switched out with a plain edge. Not sure about changing the style of the blade though.

Best to just call and ask: 1800-800-7427

You'll have an answer in a couple of minutes.

All the best!

You can have the blade replaced with a plain edge blade as long as it is the blade for that particular model. They will keep the old blade.

The guy on the phone said to have the blade replaced, that I could get a different blade. If the blade is being replaced under warranty then it would be the same blade.

For a paid blade swap, they will swap satin/black, PE/CE, and for the Grips, 550/555 for 551/556 (and vice versa). Won't be a problem at all.

Thanks! Filled out the Warranty Service Form today, I'm going to send it out next week.
