Has anyone sent in a knife to Spyderco to get sharpened? I have a delica zdp-189 serrated that needs to be sharpened.

Yup. Couple times now. If it's just for sharpening, send it in a box with $5. It'll take 'em 2-4 weeks to get it back to you, but it'll be nice and sharp. They'll also check it over, clean it and lube the pivot for you.

Last time I sent mine in, I thought they'd need repair, which comes with a $20 fee. Sent 'em in with $25, I got them back with $20 and a note saying that they only needed $5. I'm pretty happy with spyderco's sharpening service. [emoji2]

You can send it in and they will resharpen it. I would recommend just buying a sharpmaker though.

I second the great fisherman's suggestion.

For all the fooling around sending it I would buy a Sharpmaker. These and other types of sharpeners are listed in the gadgets section on the forum.

If you have never seen a Sharpmaker in action take a look at this video.

It is really a no-brainer to sharpen a knife on a Sharpmaker.

Sharpmaker + CBN rods + Tenacious (unless you have other knives to practice on). Then spend that 2-4 weeks practicing and learning to use it instead of waiting for your blades in the mail.
