Well, we have all heard the USPS & UPS horror stories. Heres a new one for you. Last summer this very polite guy emails me from somewhere in the Near East...wants two folders, and tells me he will be back in the states at the end of Nov. Everything went well until I went to the Post Office and sent them off EXPRESS MAIL last Wednesday. Two day delivery......GUARANTEED!!! right!! well.....not exactly.....It got to their express mail distribution center by Wed nite, last week.......and ONE WEEK later they tried to deliver it.....however...my customer (and hopefully still my friend) left yesterday...Dec 5th.....for Texas for a week!!!! So I got on the phone and called the 800 # and after an eternity of waiting and pushing the right numbers I finally got to talk to a HUMAN BEING!!!!!! YEAH! She told me they will try to deliver it again tommorrow..(hello, nobodies there anymore) and then will wait 5 days and send it back to me.......hello...he will be gone back to the MidEast by then......YIKES>>>> then she gave me the number in Honolulu to call for Express Mail....nothing but a STINKING RECORDING telling me what to do if I want to mail and Express Envelope...EXPRESS THIS butthead!!!!!!!!! plus this person whom I have never met and doesnt know me from adam send me a check for almost 1k and I have NO way to contact him!!!!! yours sincerely.........a dismal knifemaker...tm.

You turned a bad deal into a little humor Tom with your words. I am sorry about your troubles. I hope this never happens to me.

No fun! Sorry to hear about your shipping nightmare...

Any way to get them to return it without the five days and then reship it before he leaves? Or what about getting his shipping address in the ME and send it FedEx?

I sent some stuff express mail last fall - to eastern Europe. My two day delivery took three weeks. I guess express is a relative term. Pony express was express mail too. The only express I got, they did EXPRESS their genuine regrets when I finally spoke with a real person. I've had good luck with USPS within the US where they have some control. Think I'll stick with other carriers on international shipments. Sorry about your headaches.

I've never had a problem with FedEx.

The Express for international relies on the destination country's postal, so that can definitely be a problem.

Any new news, Tom?

well...for all who are interested.....I got my money back from the post office because it wasnt delivered in two days...whoop de do! so I kept calling and finally went to the post office where everyone knows me (its a VERY small town) and told the postmaster to help!!!!!!!!! me.... she called the postmaster at the other end and the package was there...and they tried to deliver it... ONE WEEK from the day I sent it...duh...but the bad part is the guy left maryland for texas on tues...so the policy is to try and deliver it for three days and then wait 5 and then send it back....well the guys going back to the Mid East around Christmas.... yikes....its sorta like the government... you know they suck.....you wish they werent there......but there isnt one f--king thing you can do about it!!!

i dont send stuff by u.s. mail any more unless its to a p.o. box and have no choice, to quote slick willy, i feel your pain! i have a feeling that this gent will contact you when he gets home. what i did since i had already deposited the check in a similar instance. was tell her what happened and say would you like your money back or the knives. she replyed well the knives of course! and has ordered more since, so just remenber that gummit jobs are the refuge of the mentally incompatant.LOL
