About two weeks ago i bought a TNT. I was pretty excited about it, i later got it and was pleased by what i saw. However after handling it i checked to see if it locked solid, but unfortunately there was a bit of vertical blade play. Now i know some would not be bothered by it but small details like that bother me so i gave buck a call and they said to send it in, that their warranty covered that.

I sent it in and they received it this Monday, I was just wondering how long should i expect to wait until they send it back?

I think it depends on their workload. Judging from other posts between two to three weeks, and you will be happy with the results.

I'd expect 4-6 weeks. Hunting season is upon us and that dept gets busier this time of year.

That's a long wait but as long as it gets fixed i suppose.

I've got em in 3 weeks more than once but as I said, the warranty dept also does the sharpen and buff service which increases dramatically this time of year.

Expect a few weeks. Patience is the key. The wait is worth it.

I imagine the work load is picking up at Buck and likely won't slacken until after the holiday season, that is, January. As imafritz said, hunting season. Then special orders for the holidays.

Wolfdog is right... Patience is the key... Your going to love it after you get it back... :D  ...

Sorry to hear your TNT has an issue. Did you ask what their turn around time would be when you called?

Mmmmm... I love my TNT. I have a sebenza coming, but so far it has been the finest production folder I have handled, and I have had a ton of knives pass through my hand within the last year. Luckily, mine is perfect and smooth and the lock up is phenominal with absolutely no play, veritcal or lateral, locks up very secure!

So I got my Buck TNT back today, not bad wait time. I was very excited and opened the box to find a nice looking Buck. Then here's the problem, i open the blade and notice the lockup is very late, like 85-90% the whole lock bar face covers the tang. Then there is slight wiggle in the blade, if i push the lock bar further it is rock solid lock up which is good, and it only goes a smidgen further. The lock bar is not touching the other scale but my concern is that the lock up is so late, 90% is pretty late if you ask me for a new knife. It seems very secure once you push the lock bar in a little but i'm concerned with the longevity of the knife, should i be?

Should i contact Buck again? Would they take it in again having just replaced it?

I have a large regular sebenza, but i somehow prefer my 880 spearpoint over it,dunno why but its my choice over most of my heavy folders.

If you are not happy with your knife contact Buck, or better yet contact Joe H. or CJ Buck. Tell them what is not up to your expectations and ask them to hand pick a knife you will be happy with!

I had the TNT for ~10 months when I bought the CRK/Wilson Combat 'StarTac' version of the Umnumzaan in September. It is still, as it was the day it arrived here new, ~50-60% engaged - and virtually no play in the blade. It was, indeed, a poor man's Sebenza. I've carried it and used it a lot. Then - I had a monumental occasion to celebrate in September - I ordered a CRK. Not a Sebenza - the TNT is roughly between the large and small in size. I elected to get an Umnumzaan - which I had fondled, along with the Sebbies, on various occasions. I liked the $30 additional variant from Wilson Combat - so I ordered it, getting it two days later... $430... a new maximum for a knife - and, over twice the TNT's admittedly closeout price. The Umnumzaan is a great knife... but a pocketful!

The TNT is still a favored EDC - great for 'dress up'. The OP's should be, as well. I would try the pivot screw for tightness, if I worried about blade play or lockup. In any framelock Ti knife, blade play and lockup will be affected by pivot screw tightness. You'll need a T8 Torxx driver. The Benchmade tool kit is great, but many other 'kits' include it as well (The Kershaw keychain kit doesn't include it!). The TNT should be a source of great pride in ownership, not to mention a great knife!

So i fiddled with the pivot, and now the lock bar engages at more like 75-80%, and locks very solid, no play whatsoever. It doesn't come out as fast with the pivot tightened but it still opens smoothly, i am much more satisfied now. It's nice to know that if i have any problems in the future i can send it to Buck.

At least you are happy with it now! Thats the main thing! Its a great knife and should treat you good for many, many years!!!!!!!!!!
