I worked out a deal for a local widow woman (in her 50's) to buy her old 95 Wrangler and part of the deal was that I would make a set of knives out of antlers from the first deer her deceased husband shot in the 70's. She requested that the knives be stainless, polished, gut hooks, and engraved with "~S~" (for Spivey) and "In memory of dad, love mom... 2013". She also requested that the brow tines be left on the antler, which in my opinion, makes these very uncomfortable but she wouldn't budge on them staying.
These will be Christmas presents for her kids.
The two blades with hooks are from 1/8" ATS-34
The two smaller blades are from 3/32" CPM154
When all was said and done I had a small piece of antler left over. My wife came up with the idea of turning it into jewelry so here's a heart pendant and a bead from the pith of the antler
Here's a shot of the whole family together
And this is another part of the deal. An 8.5" chef knife using 3/32" 52100, Koa, and white liners
Overall I think she got a great deal because I undercutted myself WAY too much for this much work. BUT, I get to pick up the jeep today.
Comments welcome.
