I think that, perhaps, 'Sentinel' is a silly name. Ironically, it was named by someone who is very serious, (hint: not me
).
This is the only knife, (I did a couple hatchets many years ago) which I rendered digitally, and then had waterjet cut. Of course, it started out as a pencil drawing like most everything I design and/or make.
The blade is 154CM, heat treated at Peter's, and the handle is made up of a few layers of G10 that I bonded together. It sports a relatively husky edge profile, but it has a smooth convex bevel which cuts really well. It's your standard 400 grit hand rubbed finish, although it's not the best. Adequate, I'd say. I'm looking forward to getting good at hand finishing and have spent dozens of hours over the past couple months figuring out how to do it properly. Still have a ways to go, but I'll get there.
This is a very old project, and part of the reason for that is because I totally screwed myself by having the pin holes waterjet with the rest of it and specified a size which does not exist anywhere in this dimension. I figured out how to fix it, though, and this is the first knife I used corby bolts on.
I think the knife turned out ok, maybe not amazing, but it's ok. I've almost cleared through all my oldest projects now, and this will have been the oldest. I've got some new stuff underway now, so...Sayonara Sentinel! Good riddance!
