Does anyone out there use the Sentry Solutions Tuf-Cloth to care for your knives/guns? It states on the package of my Marine Tuf-Cloth to use mineral spirits, not turpentine, to dampen the cloth when it seems to "dry" out. Does it matter what brand to use, or just as long as its' mineral spirits from the local hardware store?

Thanks for your input.:D

Mineral spirits is pretty much the same where ever you go. However, I have not been around it much in almost 30 years, at least since I worked for a Harley shop. (And you should have seen the cavelier way we handled it back then.) Read the label; nowadays there might be a concentration level different between suppliers.

One thing about Tuf-Cloth. After you use it, wash your hands thoroughly, especially if you are about to eat. I rinsed my hands once, and when I brought a sandwich to my face, I could smell it. Back I went for a thorough soaping.

That is what I use on all my guns and knives. Leaves with a nice protective coat. About washing your hands. I wear latex gloves when I clean guns.

Also keep in mind that you should look for "oderless" mineral spirits. Normal mineral spirits works just as well, just smells stronger

Thanks for the input, my fellow KnifeKnuts. Although I got the Marine Tuf-Cloth, I plan on using the odorless mineral spirits, and using Tuf-Glide about every other application, with the cloth. I think that this will provide sufficient protection for my knives and guns. :D
