This is an 18 inch 28 ounce AK by Bura. You'll see one out of maybe 500 with a handle like this. Why did Bura do this? I think I can tell you.

This piece of saatisal is exceptionally nice -- beautiful color and dark grain looks like the tree grew this piece of wood especially for this handle. Bura saw this and decided to go the extra mile and put the hatchmarking and the little "rope" ring around the center. He wanted to bring attention to the handle. He doesn't get paid anything extra for this he just did it because he thought it should be done. No other kami in the shop would have done this and that's what separates the men from the boys.

No deal on this one but if you take it for the regular price of $145 you're still getting a hell of a deal. One fine rig. Bura makes the best karda of anybody in the shop and I figure this karda is about as good as a JKM-1 which sells for $60 -- so you get the AK for $85. Scabbard, chakma and frog free.

Call or email to get this one out of 500 AK.

My Lord, that man sure knows how to do some very beautiful work. I'm not a wood chuck but that will be a nice looking handle when it is oiled up.:)

It's a beautiful rig. I've got to see if the dust bunnies have a little extra boiled linseed oil.

I just got an 18" Bura AK in the past month or so....'tis a thing of beauty. Great for post-work stress relief (not reccomended for stress relief at work ;) ). If this one swings half as good as it looks......wow.

that checking would make a good match to the forestock of many guns. Where are the hunters? This says Raghorn to me.

WOW, I am in love. That is just fantastic. If my guitar amp was sold, this would be mine. Once that puppy sells I may have to order one with some special details like this on it.

:grumpy:  :grumpy: Just when one jumps out it's gone when I stumble on it! Damn, I need to browse faster!

also sorry to have missed this! Did Burha do this recently? I.e., is he making khukuris again?

I'm sure what we're seeing of Bura's work is from the pipeline. However, I know somehow that Bura is going to be back at the forge one way or another. He may be limited to the use of only one arm but he's going to find a way. He's little but he's tough, determined and a gentleman of character.

It is hard to believe that thing weighs less than my 18" WW11. Did the fullers take that much weight from the knife?

The AK by Bura arrived this afternoon. It's so nice that I'm not sure if I'll ever actually use it. The balance if beautiful, the edge is very sharp, and of course the handle is gorgeous.

One day from Reno, Nevada to Long Island, New York. Pretty good!

Thanks Uncle Bill!

Regards,
Bill
