I like it. I hope the shortened Foxy's Folly looks like this one. Is there a story for this knife?

John, another beauty.

Didn't you post the story of this blade a little while ago? I searched, but no luck. This is of course the one time that I sent the picture to a friend, and they had a bunch of questions I couldn't answer (who are the people in the picture, what does the medallion signify...).

Thanks.

Tin chirra 19" 1lb 14oz
The Lion's head boss is the anchor for the chain securing the whistle normally attached to a 2nd GR crossbelt. The photo is of Gurkha soldiers from around 1860.
Some folks have sent me emails pointing out that the dates don't seem to match the correct day. It may be confusing because unlike most calendars in the USA I start each week on a MONDAY.

A real beauty, JP.

Yes, if the FF turned out like this it would be a heckuva seller.

How thick is the spine, JP?

Thanks for the information, John.

How do you create the background for the calenders? They are always very intricate. Nice work.

It's thick: 7/16" @ the ricasso.

A'vark, the background on this is the reverse side of some old wallpaper and the knife, picture and boss were placed on top. I try to actually shoot the whole thing to get the right shadows etc. and then add the graphics. Other cases I will silhouette the kukri, add shadows/highlights and place over the background as in this one I did for the Ethnographic Edged Weapons Forum. Thanks for the compliment.

The lines on this tin-chirra are bordering on the spectacular. It's the best I've ever seen... If you have photos of an even nicer tin-chirra J.P., please give me the link. Do you have the "history" on this particular khukuri?

Thanks for posting such beauties! :)

No, I don't have any provenance on this but there is a museum number painted on the bolster, but I have no idea from where.

I'll try to get some other pix of tin chirras posted, but I rate this one pretty highly.

According to the GM and NAM the 2nd GR were the only ones using this bronze finish.
