So my sequel scales are starting to wear. I was going to replace them but finances just don't line up to do that with Christmas around the corners and vacations for the family looming. I was thinking about taking them apart and removing the anodized coating chemically using one of the methods on the net. Has anyone done this? If so what does the aluminum look like under neath? I was thinking of doing a brushed finish like you would see on stainless and then put the black g10 inserts back in for a nice contrast. It is a satin blade.

Looks great, the g10 insert really makes it work. Did you put on a clear coat of some sort to prevent it from oxidizing with use?

Liquid plumber. It melted it off. Any commercial Lye based de-greaser will work as well, but i had liquid plumber on hand :)

That's gorgeous! I'm curious to know if this would work on a 940 Osborne, a Presidio, or any other aluminum handled Benchmade.
