Been using bootlaces and compound to buff the serations one could do with a lace (The CS ones being too small) up to now.

Epiphany.

One. (Dremel tool)

Two (Cotton wheel)

Three (Red Rouge)

Any serations (Have tried them on six maker's teeth.)

15 knives done in 34 minutes, never had such clean sharp teeth.

Whomever said buffing serations was tedious should be trying this.

Works like all hell.

try a leather disc about the same size (2"-3"). thats what i use to sharpen gut hooks and it will work on serrations just as well. it might even speed up the process. the white rouge works a little better with the leather though.

Oh crap... now I feel in need of a Dremel tool! You just gave me the excuse....

Even if you don't own a knife, you NEED a Dremel!!!!

You are not helping at all to save my budget buddy! :D :D

I know... I should have gotten one long ago. One of these days I will have to go out and check the huge selection of Dremel tools in the stores. I once thought that Dremel only had one tool with a shitload of different attachments, drill bits and alike... but I was wrong. Very wrong.

I use the 1" felt pad from Dremel (muy expensivo) and hard felt wheels from Congress Tools (easier on los pockets) on my Dremel for those sorts of things. The red rouge works well, but the white rouge RichardJ recommended works better on most steels. So does FlexCut Gold, green rouge, and Thiers Issard strop paste (loco expensivo).

Another fun Dremel trick you can do with your non-serrated knives is sharpen the blades with a coarse grit and then use the dremel disc (cotton, leather, felt, whatevuh) and polishing compound to knock off the burr and give you a polished-yet-toothy edge. Feels like most factory edges.
