just took delivery last night of plain blade sere 2000-this knife is a real chunk-fit and finish-near perfect-a lot of knife for the money-when it sits between knives that are valued at 2 even 3 times the price-it holds its own- very satisfied-

by the way i originally ordered a black blade-when it came in- there had been a mistake made--i got a used knife- seen a picture of a plain blade on another posting-changed order to plain blade-by the way the seller made good immediately-and overnighted the new knife with (i believe)sincere apologies, everyone makes mistakes-its what we do to correct them that sets us apart

See...I told you that you'd like the (Al Mar) SERE 2000!!...(Well, even if I didn't tell YOU, I would have.:D).

hey there glockman-i saw your edc post-got to agree the nomad/ sere 2000 combo, very hard to beat for the money- would not be much you couldnt handle-from letter opener to outright self defense- maybe a little demolition in between-if they do start an Al Mar sere 2000 forum would that make you the prez

I agree...A dedicated "lefty" SERE 2000 (2004?) would be excellent! However, they do work pretty well now, just as they are.:).

But then, I received a 100% "lefty-friendly" Benchmade 730 "Elishwitz" this morning from a trade, and that one is WAY COOL...The dual thumb-studs, the pocket-clip that goes on either side, and the ambidextrious Axis-lock...Perfect.

Man, I'd LOVE to see the Al Mar SERE 2000 (2004?) come out with an "Axis-lock"...Now, THAT would be THE perfect folder for me.

Actually, I was just thinking about how to improve the SERE 2K. I was about to make a new thread but I might as well put it here.

If Al Mar introduced the SERE 2K in S30V, would you guys buy it and sell your current one? How much more would you be willing to pay for an S30V version? I know Al Mar switched to S30V with the Operator, hopefully its in the works with the SERE...

I have a couple of ways. Firstly larger and more comfortable thumbstuds. (I am going to do this for myself when the custom thumbstuds arrive)

Secondly a smaller pocket clip that has holes for tip up and down to keep everybody happy. (I cannot do this)

Apart from that the knife is great, i am not sure how much S30V is better than VG 10 and how much extra would it cost.
