I´m thinking of getting a new folder. The two I´m choosing betwen is the sere 2000 or Emerson Blackbird

does anybody have an opinion about these knives??

i have never owned or handled a emerson product so no opinions on them, but i have just got a sere 2k and i have to say it is a great knife, fills the hand,a great blade steel, and the lock seems fine.
what do you want the knife for tac or pract?are you going to use the clip or a pouch(i found the sere a bit large/heavy for clip carry).
Try and handle both knives first and let us know how you get on.
cheers

I have a SERE 2K, and love it. It is a great knife for the money. Don't have any experience with the Blacbird, but I do have an Emerson Commander. Basically I love the ergo's of the Emerson, and the blade shape too. I am not that big a fan of the secondary chisel edge that Emerson uses, I tend to prefer a normal V-grind for my EDC uses. Also IMHO, the SERE seems to have a stronger lock.

If I could only get one for a user it would be the SERE. But if I could get both:D , I would. The wave opening is really cool!

Sere 2000 easy, Al MAr's fit and finish is better then emerson's and the Sere just kicks butt all around, a great knife.

I got my SERE yesterday and i´m realy satisfied. I love the ergos of the handle and the simple blade design.

Maybe it´s a little bit heavy but thats my problem not the knife´s.

Since I live in Sweden it´s hard to handle the knives before ordering because there aren´t any dealers here that carries Al Mar or Emerson. I got this one from Germany, more expensive compared to the US but safer and quicker.

I have been looking for a linerlock folder whith g-10 handels for a while but now my serch is over...

Gotta go with the Sere 2000, what a tank. Well built, good steel, comfy handle, and a solid lockup.

I owned a sere 2000 and it was a high quality knife. Fit and finish is top notch. I thought the black bird was discontinued.
