I thought I saw a picture recently of a SERE 2000 with black clip black screws and a different thumb stud. I can't remember where I saw the picture. Has anyone else seen this?

I know there are many routes to go in order to get black screws and blacken a clip and even switch out thumb studs. However, if Al Mar is making the SERE's this way now, this will give me a good excuse for another knife.

Sorry Dirk, I looked at all my reports and pictures of the SERE 2000 and could not find the pictures you thought you saw. I will continue to look, and if I find anything I will let you know.

I don't mind hallucinations, it's just a bummer when you wake up!

The thumb stud is a bad design and should be changed out. Who makes alternative studs?

I am not sure about what I am getting ready to say, so keep that in mind. I had two Sere's back this summer that I ended up trading. Both had the same thumbstud and it was pointy. I recently got two more SERE's, because I missed the other two!, and I think the thumb stud is different. The newer SERE's have a flattened tip on the stud and don't seem to hang up in clothing as bad.
Now this all may be my imagination. It may even be all the things I did in my youth. Regardless, I think this is the case.

Great news! Now, when can I ship my silver pocket clip back and get a black one to replace it? Or at the very least buy just a black clip? I don’t need or want to buy a new S2K.

Jeff, did you notice if the thumb stud was smoothed out? Were the screw heads black as well? This would in my opinion really improve the look of the knife.
Keith.

It's even better when the good hallucinations turn out to be real! I guess I'll have to get another SERE2000. Darn It!

The protos Gary had at the booth were black blades, black studs, black clip. I asked when then would be ready for shipping and he told me they were just waiting to see what the response was before going into production. I suspect these parts will be ready soon. Give Gary a call and see what delivery looks like on these. Tell him I told you to call.

The fixed blade version of the SERE is a nice piece and will be another hot seller when it comes out. First pieces will probably not be ready until July.

Other pieces I was impressed with are the REKAT/Simonich collaboration - the Pikuni. Great cross over between a small utility blade and neck knife, and of course Mike Sastre's Concealex is first class. Also liked the new mini frame lock folder that Camillus is introducing, and the new KaBar line of fixed blades using micarta and zytel handle material.

Did not get to spend much time at SHOT this year. We blew in on Saturday morning and left that evening. Luckily SHOT is going to be back in Vegas next year. New Orleans is just not a convention friendly city in my opinion.

I found the picture! It's in the recent Blade magazine in the Al Mar ad. It could be the quality of the photo, but the screws look to be black. I don't know where I got the idea the clip was black. I must have just figured if the screws looked black, the clip would to. The thumb stud is different. And the logo on the blade is different.
