After much research through the Forums, I have just ordered a Al Mar SERE 2000. It is hard for me to believe that it is a stronger build that my CKRT Krawford/Casper folder or my Bob Lum Spyderco folder. But I want to give it a try. Any new comparisons?

Be sure and let us know your thoughts on it after you've had a chance to compare it yourself.

Strongest folder I own, period! Nothing production I have held comes close. I am sure you will get the Sebenza crowd dissagreeing, but I love the SERE 2000. The thing is STOUT! Enjoy and Take Care!!!

as far as liner locks go it's tough to beat a sere 2000. For the price, it's one of the strongest and well made knives on the market today

I have to agree with the previous posts, this is one strong knife, especially for a liner lock. Hope you like it, let us know what you think.

Strong, beautifully crafted knife. I love it, especially the blade shape. Test it with the spine whack though, and you may feel a little different about the strength of the lock. Mine only fails when I hit the top end of the false edge with the spine. I can't decide if that is dangerous or not for defense application.

Back in mid-August, I traded for an (Al Mar) SERE 2000...I liked that one so well that a week later I traded for another SERE 2000...I like that one so well that it has replaced my Spyderco Police model as my "defensive/offensive" EDC folder!...Both my SERE 2000 folders are excellent.

I love my SERE 2000.

Only thing I am uncomfortable is with the teflon washers. Should have bronze washers instead. But the smoothness and speed due to the teflon washers are unbelieveable!

Solid knife and a very good value for money!

I have been using my new SERE 2000 for several days now. Here are my initial impressions:
Fit and Finish- 10: everybit as well made as my Bob Lum Tanto (my heretofor standard by which I judge folding knives:)). Extremely solid build. Blade grinds are perfect! Super sharp out of the box- on a par with my Millie! I ordered a satin finish but they shipped me a black blade. Coating seems pretty durable so far.

Blade lock and ergonomics- 9: I can not get this lock to budge. Lateral twisting, spine wack, et all- no movement or play what so ever. Handle ergo is excellent in any grip. The only reason I did'nt give a 10 out of 10 is the handle clip could be a little tighter, but I can fix that. Thumb studs are very well placed and are not sharp, as I have read in the past. SMOOTH opening action!

Worth every penny! IMHO the best value and bang for the buck I have ever seen (no I have never used a Sebenza! Someday...:))for a production folder.

Greetings to a new convert! if we continue to grow with this speed we will lobby for our own AlMar/S2K Forum.

I loved the review of the 2K in TK mag and year or so ago. THis is really a cult following. My favourite word to describe it is STOUT. The thing is a tank. Glad you like it Yester5. take Care!!!

Seems to me that this is dangerous for any application.

I enjoy it but have two problems with my SERE 2K. I am a leftie so the thumgb stud is tougher to get under. I am thinking about having a thumb groove put in. The sceond thing I would like to see are serrations on the thumb ramp.
I do love it though!!!

It's an awsome knife but I feel it's too heavy to be clipped into the pocket.

I removed the belt clip carry it in a pouch on my belt.

It's virtually the same size as a standard 1911 magazine.

Ahhhh, you hit the nail on the head there. That is my one big complaint with it, but I find myself having that issue on a lot of knives. That area is way to slick and it would have been rather easy to incorporate serrations on the top of the liners during production. Oh yeah, and the clip on the satin finished knife is way too shiny.
