I'm pretty new to the knife world, but I just wanted to echo what I've heard so many times before: the SERE 2000 is a great knife. Exceptional lockup, great blade shape, comfortable handle, impeccable build quality. I made the mistake of focusing on state of the art locks (compression, axis, MBC frontlock) and materials (s30v, titanium) before realizing that craftsmanship is king for my purposes. Glad I was able to pick up one of these in a trade. Even with some use history, it beats the other knives I've owned recently for build quality hands down.

The SERE 2000 is the Jim Brown of production tactical folders. It is a man among boys in finish and build integrity.

My pair of SERE 2000 folders are WAY down at the very bottom of my "trade-away" stack of knives...That's how much I like 'em!.:).

Does the top thumb ramp-type section of the SERE 2k ever bother you at all?

It always feels like my hand is cramped, or that I should be able to get more of the thumb on the ramp section and hence more leverage.

I too, can't say enough about the quality and workmanship of this knife. It is finely crafted and built for hard use. While I thought I would like the deep pocket clip, I find it hard to get a hold of the knife and would definetly have a problem in an emergency situation when fine motor skills are lost. The clip is good for low profile if that is an issue for the carrier.

Yes, I agree. The SERE is a fabulous knife. The price is right and the finish is top notch. I have four favorite folders that I carry regularly: Sebenza Classic, Spyderco ATR, SERE 2000 and Benchmade 710.
