I've been comparing my SERE 2000 (satin blade and fittings) with the SERE advertised in Blade Magazine with the satin blade and black fittings. It seems that the newer model differs slightly.
The blade comes straight out of the handle rather than at a slight downwards slant.
The blade grind running through the center of the blade is lower resulting in a thicker edge.
The edge is ground closer to the handle - more cutting edge.
New thumb studs.
Has anyone got both of these versions? Is the above true or are my eyes playing up on me?
I have seen the new black blade models which resemble the earlier model like mine. Note: why bring out a black blade with silver fittings?
The new model as above looks better and more symetrical but my current model looks like it would cut better.
