Serial numbers?

I have noticed that other manufacturers that produce knives similar to the Buck 110 have used serial numbers. I was wondering if Buck has ever used serial numbers and why they don't now. I'd love to buy a few in sequential order to hand out to family members.

I definitely understand the LEs getting serial numbers. I was just thinking along the lines of having numbers stamped on the bottom of the a bolster would benefit both Buck and collectors. Especially with them "etching" on blades like some of the 5160 Buck 101s.

I question if there is room for a consecutive serial number on the bolster of a standard production 110.
They make what? Around 2,000 or more a day, five days a week?

I thought about that as well. Not sure of the number they produce but its gotta be a bunch.

Buck has done a great job with the 110. They’ve basically kept the same price point for about 30 years. By streamlining and being efficient they’ve kept production costs low. Adding a serial number would be going the opposite way. Even if it adds a nickel to each knife. It’s a waste.

agree with many here. dont care about serial numbers, don't even really care for limited edition numbers knives. wont stop me from buying it, but just dont really care for it myself.

You made some very good points but I disagree with you on it being a waste. I enjoy being able to look up old things and see when it was manufactured to the day.
