Serialized vs un-serialized Great Eastern Knives?

There seems to be about an average of $9 extra for the number and the certificate that goes with it. In 2011 they changed to a straighter, non-italicized font that doesn't look as good to me. For the collectors, as long as they make fewer serialized knives than without, they should command higher prices, but only time will tell. Since the font change, I would just as soon get the unserialized ones, myself.

I have an un-serialized 892309, 42 were made unserialized, 50 with numbers. Which is more valuable? :D

I know their marked prototypes are picked at random, I imagine the numbered ones are selected the same way.

So collectors value and price... I have noticed that there is a knife site that has a #48 in African Blkwood both Serialized and Un, the serialized has a clip and wharn where as the un has a clip and spey. Is this common practice?

If you're into the serial number thing for some reason fine. Personally I don't care about that stuff at all and in fact would prefer without. Only if I can't find one without a # is the only reason I would buy one that's serialized.

Nothing to do with the number, they just made the #48 in Blackwood both with wharnie and spey secondary. If you like the plain look better I just re-ran the #48 improved (wharnie) again with no etch, no serial, and houndstooth shield. A little cleaner looking.

That is a beautiful knife, I unfortunately don't have the funds at the moment. Maybe ill send the link out to a few people and see if I can score it for Christmas.
