Serious Advice Needed

Hello, I need to buy one new knife. Price is not a concern if I find the right knife. It must be a locking knife. It must have a blade length of less then 2.5 inches, and under 2 inches would be preferable. It can be an assisted opening knife. Blade shape needs to be something like Wharncliff, Drop Point, Clip Point, Spear Point, but not like a Hawksbill or Tanto. Steel can be any good steel, that has relatively decent edge holding. Please, no questions regarding why I've chosen these parameters. I would prefer advice from members who have actually owned or used the knives they are recommending, rather then second hand info. Thanks!!!

So, why have you chosen these parameters? The mindset as to why your looking for such a specific knife is very important when one is giving serious advice!

the Spyderco bug had a really small blade. ;)

I think baba is right, what you intend to use it for is important info.

I have a friend who has a knife exactly like you described. says it's the best darned knife hes ever owned. didnt cost too much either. He says it would be perfect for you.

It's answers like this past one that have me lurking for the last 2 years. With nothing to contribute, they respond anyways.

dsmegst - Thanks for your reply!! I checked out the stats, and the dragonfly fits right into my requirements.

babakanoosh45 - I suppose I could have titled my post better. It's not really advice I need, but rather information. I could have instead asked for a poll of small bladed folders, that members have actual experience with. At that point I could take that information and research the different knives. I would then choose the knife I like and purchase it.

Check out the different "California legal" autos that Pro Tech sells. I have had a Runt 2 like this one for maybe 4-5 years now and I really like mine.

You can't not tell us - its killing me as to why someone would want a two inch bladed folder?!!!

That said I would SERIOUSLY look into the Spyderco Lava. ;)

FLymon - Thanks for that pic. Looks like a nice lil knife.

Buffalohump - The Spyderco Lava looks good. Looks like the leverage gives good power transmission to the blade edge. If I tell people what the knifes purpose is, I just know I'll get multiple responses telling me why I'm choosing the wrong knife or the wrong parameter for my purpose!

As has already been touched upon a few times already in this thread, look at what the Spyderco catalog has to offer. In the small folder category, I find Spyderco is hard to beat, especially in terms of ergonomics

You can't go wrong with the Spyderco Dragonfly. I carried a stainless steel model for about two years straight and as a "beater" knife after that. If price is no issue, maybe you should look at the Strider PT. The actual cutting length of the blade is around 2.25 inches or so and it's a very stout little knife. Pricey, but stout.

Also Kershaw chive or scallion may work. They also have a few more in that range like the mojo. Check out their catalog as well

I've had a Spyderco Wenger for 12 years and it has never let me down. The Ocelot is very close in size and blade design. I'm sure it would not let you down either.
