I've recently purchased my first two Busse knives (a NMSFNO and a SFNO LE) and while I really like both knives, I feel squeamish about getting them dirty and using them. I'm sure that this is common but it kind of defeats the purpose of owning such work horse knives. Another thing that I've noticed is that I keep wanting to get a bigger, thicker blade and find myself wondering if a .22" or .25" thick blade is the knife that I want to trust my life to in a survival situation, especially knowing that there are .32" thick INFI beasts out there. I guess that I'm just down with the sickness!
Recently I've been thinking about purchasing an ASH-1, which seems like it would be the ideal knife for what I want to do (camp chores, survival trekking, field dressing game, and fending off the odd big foot). I have heard that sharpening can be an issue with the larger (thicker) blades and since I'm a relative newbie to knife sharpening I want to make sure that I don't get myself in over my head. Any suggestions?
