I was very disturbed when I saw Comrade Chang's response in the thread "CRKT Point Guard" at the KNIFE TESTING & REVEIWS section.

----------------------------------------
Chang said: "One of my friends wanted a knife to stab car tires (I don't know why, nor
do I want to know why). I'm going to hook him up with a Point Guard or a
Crawford/Kasper from CRKT with this new LAWKS mechanism, so his precious little digits
don't get smushed and cut when his knife unlocks as he viciously punctures a car tire. "

I already responded in that thread, Chang. In short, you shouldn't be helping out your friend in his quest to vandalize cars. You are just hurting the knife cause by doing that.

Secondly, your friend needs his ass kicked!

Maybe he should let his friend use a a sak with NO LOCK so his fingers WILL get cut off!

Or maybe Chang was just joking.

Chang, I hope you take the advice given above. You seem to be a level headed kid.
As to Mr Hari who seems to have to jump into both of these threads with nothing to say:
Chang is admittedly a teenager with much still to learn. What's your excuse Mr Bigot?

Not having read the review and testing thread yet, I have a question.... Could it be he is stabbing tires that are already off the cars? I have seen people make knife training dummies out of old car tires. Makes a good hard training dummy that will last a long time. Maybe I am giving his friend too much credit, but let's not jump down the throats of a teen kid. I will have to agree with what Lifter said, Chang is young and still learning. Cut the kid some slack.

Chang was kidding. If not, it was a unfortunate choice of example to use to support the strength of a folding knife's lock. Comments have already been made in the Reviews forum thread.

This thread is unecessary, and unfair. I think it amounts to a personal attack, particularly given the friction these participants have displayed in other recent threads. I am emailing Mike and Spark asking for it to be closed. This community has more important things to think about today than attacking an unfortunate choice of words.

Stabbing tires is a common exercise among people who train in various styles of knife combatives. Normally, they use a stack of old, used tires as Mr. Reynolds suggests.

No, I mean like old worn out tires. I added the I don't know why part as a joke. I know for a fact that he doesn't want to pop other people's tires (he really likes cars). Also he comes from a good family that has very high morals and vandalism isn't something encouraged in his family.

Harikari, this is none of your business and so stay out. You have better things to pay attention to, such as correcting your habit of using racist slang during a dispute (wok master, eggroll breath, go back to dry cleaning, lick dirty dishes with your tongue, and calling me Bruce Lee).

As for this being a personal attack against me, no big deal. I just wish he would have kept it to e-mail before posting this here. I'm not offended or anything though.

I knew there was a reasonable explanation to this thread. Thanks Comrade. You're a good kid.

From an old kid.

Robert, Paracelsus, Chuck, Lifter and the rest of you, thanks for speaking on my behalf. Means a good deal to me. I'll be more careful to my choice of words.

Robert, BTW, I'm going to send a prototype Sliver for Herman to approve soon, then I'll get to work on the Slivers and soon the pounded foil version. Take care.

Glad to see everyone can work out their differences without getting too hot under the collar. I'll close this now.
