Serious question... Why do Busse knives trade hands so often?

I watch the exchange fairly often, and Busse/Scrapyard/Swamp Rat seem to be the most commonly traded around knives on the forum. It can't be a quality issue, cause they get bought up as fast as they go on sale.

So, why? Just trying to fund that next buy, so you can try them all out? Searching for the grail that you don't know is your grail yet?

..... a combination of both I believe, that and the Busse market is such that you can actually buy and try and not loose a cent of the deal. There are enough variations to blade style and grip that it is worth going through a few to fine the one you like (given you can't walk into a shop and handle several side by side). Me, I have only ever sold a single Busse (or kin), but that is just me. There is some deal spotting involved as well when people know/believe they can make a couple of dollars. And...well, this is a bit of a club and it is nice to see the blades passing among the group.

Just my opinion, but it's how they market their knives. You can't really just buy the one you want. They do have certain models that are for sale at given times and you can always call the custom shop; but for the most part, the secondary market is where it's at. I waited almost a year to see my grail pop up. They make a certain few of a certain knife then let the secondary market take over.

I have owned12 models, with one double. All the sales have been to fund other models. All would have been keepers if I did not need the $ for the next buy. I Will Only Allow My Self To Have A Certain Amount Tied Up in knives and won't do debt. So I buy what catches my fancy.(on a very limited scale, of course).

Recently I did sell two for a custom order that came due.

One of the great things about Busse blades is that you can buy it, try it... and if it doesn't work for you... toss it back into the trough. Hungry hogs will always be willing to to chomp up your cast off. Best thing is, it won't cost you much to do so. There isn't much depreciation on busse's. Some models can be quite profitable.

.

It's like doing any other type of shopping with one exception. Here there is no store to walk into so you can't fondle a bunch of different models. With the meriad of options, styles, colors etc., about the only way is to buy one, handle it and make up your mind if it's a keeper. If not well it's like kdstrick (Kevin) said, "toss it back into the trough and go for another". Shoot that's half the fun, THE HUNT!!! I have had maybe as many as 12 ASH-1's now I have 3 because I found what I wanted and threw the others back. Same thing as fishing, throw it back or eat it.

To this newbe - all of the above statements ring true! I have yet to sell one though, as I am still in an "aquisition mode." And open up the Busse Exchange section with near giddy anticipation each morning to see what's for sale. Sometimes I see a wanted knife mere moments after its posting - sometimes I'm one minute late. The hunt continues, with a greater determination. Cheers.

You never know what knife u love till you hold it and use it, I buy Alot of knives and keep what I love , Bae are slowly becoming my favorite knife hands down, small enough to conceal but tuff enough to do just about anything. Also BUSSE has such an amazing warranty and customer service it makes buy and trading them so quickly very hassle free.

Yea I've been selling off a handful I haven't had long, but that's because a few I really want have been popping up so I've been selling off others to get them.
I love collecting and trying out different knives, and I love Busse, but they're too expensive for me to keep if I don't absolutely love them...like almost everyone else here, I get addicted to them and basically max-out my credit card in the process. But I'm narrowing my collection down to ones I use and/or absolutely love. It's tough, but I gotta do it. :( If I could afford it I would never sell any of them lol
