Seriously Considering the HK7

I am currently in the market for a fixed blade for outdoor use, the BK7 seems to fit the bill nicely. However I have also looked into the Swamp Rat Camp Tramp. I have done research on both knives but can not reach a conclusion. I was hoping that you could aid me in my purchasing by explaining the benifits of the BK7 versus the Camp Tramp. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Do you mean the BK7 Combat Utility? Or is the HK7 something I have never heard of?

If the money is no object the camp tramp is a step up. For the dollar the beckers are hard to beat, considering you could have the BK 7, 9, and 11 for the price of the camp tramp.

Ok well i managed to go the entire post while looking at the website and writing HK7 when i was clearly looking at a BK7. i can not explain it, its mind boggling

Well, typo's aside, the BK7 is a great knife. I don't have the camp tramp, in fact my first rat is on its wayright now. If you are just getting into these type knives go with a becker or two, otherwise go with the rat.

I have a Becker Campanion, a BK9, and a Crewman. They are all, without exception excellent blades.

I also have a Swamp Rat Howling Rat. And I burn for a Camp Tramp... I had a custom sheath made for my Howling Rat by OS/T. I really, really disliked the sheath that shipped with it originally. The Swamp Rat's have an unconditional lifetime warrantee.

The stock Becker sheaths are decent.

If money was no concern, I would say get the Camp Tramp and a custom sheath. But at $130USD for the Swamp Rat, vs. $50USD for the BK7 they are really in different price categories.

The Becker's are unbelievable for the price. The Swamp Rats are just plain unbelievable.

I'd suggest trying to get your hands on one of each, handle ergonomics seems to be the biggest argument for and against these fine blades.
