My Sebenza 25 has been my EDC for several months now and I have used it heavily on a daily basis. I have a construction business and I use it on the job site constantly. The scales are beat up, the blade is seriously scratched, and it looks over 20 years old. I did not baby this knife in any way, shape, or form. I decided jump on the bandwagon and nuke her instead of a spa treatment. Please see below for details and lots of pics.

Phase one happend a few weeks ago when I stonewashed the scales. I used smooth riverrocks from 1?8 in to about 1 in in diameter and a handful of 1/4 in ballbearings. This was before the serious blade scratches.

My next step was to stonewash the blade. I used small river rocks up to about 1/2 in in dia.

Next I decided that the blade and scales were to bland both being a similar stonewash so I decided to darken up the scales by doing the Oxi-Clean treatment.

Heres Before

Heres After. Came out great in my opinion!! It really darkened them up.

Next I stonewashed then anodized the hardware to a nice deep bronze color.

Then I had to put a nice mirror edge back on the blade with my wicked edge sharpener. Stonewashing is pretty rough on the edge.

Here she is all put together. Tese were taken last night but I put better pics below that were taken in better lighting. Im really happy with how it turned out! Not a bad way to void your warranty I think.

Nice pics brother! I like your family! That stonewashed Nyala is the cat's meow--well done.

Question: it appears you didn't mask off the pivot area when you did the stonewashing to the blade--has that affected the action at all? In theory, it seems like it would make the action a bit gritty given all the additional scratches in the surface.

Anywho, I appreciate the pictorial!

Nope it didnt effect the action at all. I lubed with CRK grease and Nano Oil and she is smooth as butter. I can thumbflick with almost no effort.

Looks great man, i have to ask, what is the "oxy-clean treatment"?

I cleaned the scales and clip really well with soap and water then rubbing alcohol. Then put an inch of boiling water in a glass baking pan. Then add a big scoop of oxi clean and keep it agitated for about 30 min. It darkens the surface of titanium to a gunmetal gray with a hint of bronze. I don't know the science behind it but it works great!

out of all of those i hate you for the carbon fiber nyala the most :p

nice work on the 25, thanks for sharing

Thanks man. I had rival make those scales for me and he did a great job. I did the stone washing and wicked edging.

Love the bronzed hardware, it makes the knife look like it was found in an old antique shop in England. :D What a find that would be. Did you do any polishing or what not to the blade after it was stonewashed? Like the Striders, it almost seems as if they put a polish or coating on top of the stonewash once it is completed.

I think that Umnumzaan needs a nuked treatment also so he doesn't feel left out.

I dunno about the zaan. I love my scotch brite scales on there. I like that each of my crks has its own unique personality and a little of my own personal touch. That would look sweet nuked also though. Especially if I did bronze or blue hardware. The old pivot would look really cool anodized.

Hey Bart! How's that new starbenza treating you? I almost gave it the nuke treatment instead of my 25 but the 25 was beat to hell so she volunteered.

That looks really nice!
Great pic of your collection, I love those cf scales on your Nyala.
