Serrated 350 questions

I am going to be sending my used 350 in for a couple of minor tweaks/repairs and I think I am going to also have the blade replaced on it to one with serrations. I will start by saying I am not a huge fan of serrations but they do come in handy sometimes and I like the style Kershaw/ZT uses. What I was wanting to know from you guys that own them is for the blade (meaning bulky but short compared to my other ZTs) how do you like them for the size of the knife? Has anyone that has had a serrated 350 ever had any regrets for not choosing a plain edge? How often do you find yourself using the serrations? Probably the hardest use the knife will see is cleaning fish this summer and removing the heads of larger bass (along with other various edc tasks) and I may even end up taking it hunting with me as well. I have used Schrade/Case slipjoints all of my life so I have no doubts the knife can handle it. Just wondering if the serration will benefit me enough to have them.

On a totally separate note, does anyone know where/if I can find standoffs for the 350?

And while I am at it I usually use my Spyderco Pacific Salt for my beach/saltwater fishing trips but has anyone had their 350 in/around saltwater and know how it holds up?

Thanks!!
JD

I liked the serrations on mine. I ended up using them more than I thought. Also made it a touch easier to sharpen since you don't have a recurve to sharpen if that bothers you. They do work great and I wouldn't hesitate using it for hunting or fishing duties. The belly makes it a great skinner. Also be ready to disassemble to clean blood and guts out ( I'm sure you already knew that). If you get the dlc or any of them really it should be just fine around saltwater just be sure to dry it off when done and oil it at the end of the day (standard fare).

What model is your 0350 and what's wrong with the blade now? Is ZT letting you choose blade variances on your model for blade replacement or do they just replace it with what it came with?

Pretty sure you can pick up standoffs at a place like knifekits.com, but they're satin finished. If you want black, buy a blem blur from kershawguy and steal them from that.

Thanks bad, I have no problems with disassembling and cleaning so that is no biggie. I kinda keep thinking I would end up using them more than I would expect.

I could be completely mistaken in the $30 blade replacement thinking that I can pick which blade I want. I will call and update the thread shortly. Mine is the all black version and nothing is particularly wrong with it, I was just gonna take advantage of the purchase replacement because I wanted to. And I have an old Blur at home I will try stealing the standoffs from.

I just called and you can pick serrated or plain edge but it is a replacement for the same blade color. So I should rephrase to say debating on a black serrated blade :D

I don't think this was what Kershaw/ZT originally intended by the blade replacement program, I think it was more for mishaps or mistakes, to get you a functioning knife again at a minimal charge.

Contact them and see, but I hate to see blade replacement program go by the wayside due to 'abuse'.

That's kinda what I figured they were gonna say. Serration are fine on the 0350 series IMO, they just take up the recurve portion anyways (you're gonna use the belly more for most task anyway so), it's really just preference.

I use the serrations on my 301st for rope and wood cutting. First partially serrated blade since my veff My Tighe, which I couldn't find a use for.

I've got one of those My Tighe that has the Veff serrations too. Mine is all black. I like them, but hate the lock on the knife.
