Serrated Campanion?

Hey everyone, been browsing this forum for a few weeks now and i've found a great deal of information on all things sharp. Just picked up a desert BK7 from ebay, decided to go with that one after reading about it here and it is certainly on heck of a knife! I've had a lot of knives - Ka-bars, Gerbers, Bucks, Bokers... and this one eats them all for breakfast! I can see what people are saying about the handles being a bit big, but i personally find it fits my hand very nicely. It's too bad they don't make the desert models anymore though, i think it looks much better in tan. Almost don't wanna use and put wear on the thing cuz it's such a fine lookin knife!

But back to the task at hand. After being so impressed with the BK7 i'm now looking at getting another smaller Becker, likely a campanion or crewman. I've seen some campanions on eBay that have a partially serrated blade, and this seems a bit odd as i haven't seen any such knife on the camillus site, nor read about it here. Just wondering if these knives are legit, or if they're a knockoff or possibly a modified knife. The part serrated blade might be handy for the work i'd do with it, but i just want to be careful of what i'm getting. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks in advance,

Welcome to Bladeforums! :D

You're off to a good start with that Becker. I don't think it makes much difference if you get the Campanion or the Crewman, but I never heard of a serrated Campanion myself, and I don't think you need it. A plain edge kept sharp will do fine, especially with high carbon blades as tough as the Beckers.

The only real advantage to serrations is in cutting a lot of fibrous materials like rope.
