I see know a lot of people think serrated knives have no place in the woods, personally I think they make great bush knives. That being said all of my carry fixed blades a plain edged but all of my folders are either partially serrated or fully serrated. My favorite folder is my Ontario Utilitac II which is a Serrated tanto:O and it absolutely rocks for a bush folder. It has a fine tip for carving or digging splinters ect out of fingers and its serrations make some of the best feathersticks I have seen.

I posted this on another forum and thought it might fit here as well

All im saying is dont knock it till you try it... you might like it!!!

Thanks Bill

They are just 'okay' in my book because of one reason ~~ for some reason I can't really sharpen one worth a "TOOT" and a dull knife has no use to me.!**

My brain keeps rearranging your thread title into:

Don't Suck Serrated Knives!

Each to his own, but now try carving a spoon with that knife. Not that I've ever carved a spoon... wait, I actually have. I carved a Welsh love spoon for my wife. Nearly forgot that!

Yea the serrated blades are ok for a lot of tasks that a woodsman does. I have a serrated blade on my leatherman wave.
I do not use it much though. I really love the plain edge for most of my cutting chores though.
Again it comes down to USE what you like.

I'm one of those folks who can sharpen serrations, and still don't care for them personally. HOWEVER, I also look at knife use & collecting alot like I do Hedonism,
"If it makes you feel good, do it!"
