Does anyone know where or if I could get a serrated La Griffe, SD model?
I see the rescue version but I'm interested in the SD model and would like
serrations on the edge.

Thank you

the only one i have seen is the rescue model.

but it wouldn't be difficult to reprofile the tip and sharpen it. a few guys here could do that if you dont know how.

bill seigle and str come to mind.

There has only been one serrated La Griffe made that I know of and that is in a collection not far from here. Unless the owner has sold it lately and I dont think that is likely.

Thanks guys, I think I'll get the Rescue and try and re-profile it. Any tips (no pun intended) would be appreciated.

if you have a belt sander it should be easy. you only want the tip pointed instead of rounded, correct?

just grind to a point, the sharpen.

i had a "WWR" La Griffe (you will never guess where i lost it:rolleyes:) you could easily put a point on it if you wanted to. You will need to take the material off the back of the blade to get the point to run smoothly in to the edge and it will be a bit shorter than the regular one but it will be pretty much exactly what your looking for.
Also, if you do it your self dont let the blade heat up or you will goose the temper on it, i would do it with a "wet wheel" or a hand cranked bench grinder ;)

it might take you a while to do it with a dremmel but you could. you will need to take a good bit of steel off the spine all the way up the blade the get the lines to run in smoothly so it would be a bit of a chore but not impossible. the finish could be a bit wobbly with a dremmel but if thats what you have then use it.
Also you might want to get it beadblasted afterwards to get a uniform finish over the whole blade, it will have exposed steel on the bit you remove, purley for esthetics though, its not a must. Just a thought.

Using a dremmel will most likely ruin the temper. Dremmels run WAY to hot. Why do you want serrations on an almost perfect little SD edc.

hey guys I just thought I would chime in on that last good point from progunner, a bunch of years back I was really into personally testing knives before I carried, i had the opportunity to buy a couple of emerson lagriffes overseas in japan during a going out of business sale for a great price. I put one of them through its paces, I have to tell you, that you cant imagine what a powerfull cutting tool that little knife is. I even took it to the point of hitting a discarded kitchen counter top with full speed ballistic hits, the knife cuts huge channels through the dense material. And, no damage what so ever. No tip roll over. I guess what I want to say is this, unless you do some "destruction" test with this absolute gem, you really have no idea how much potential it has. There is no way that you would want serations after seeing what the knife can do the way it is made.

I agree with shipwreck. Once that thing is put into motion, whatever it touches is in for some serious damage.

Good luck with that Bro Hopefully no adverse effects will happen to the kydex sheath as a result.

take care

Hey guys I just got me La Griffe straight edge today and you all were right on the money.
It is an awesome knife. No need for serrations here. Thanks for all you advice.

Just one thing. I'd like to wrap the handle in either leather or para-cord. Any advice on how to do this? Are there any step by step threads on how to wrap a handle out there?

Thanks again
