does Spyderco make a s30v fully serrated Military? It seems like I have seen them before but I cant find them @ any of the usual online retailers that I buy my Spydercos from. I have kinda gone nuts with buying Millies lately(2 XHP's,orange S30V,plain S30V,partially serrated S30V) and just recently saw the light concerning Spyderco's serrations. I have been carrying a partially serrated Military @ work lately and love it. I have tried serrated knives before and didn't really like them but the serrations Spyderco uses rock and with a sharpmaker they are extremely easy to keep sharp. Anyway, I figured the experts here could point me in the right direction. Thanks for the help.

There is someone that I know of who will fully serrate a blade for you. PM me if you want his name and stuff.

Unfortunately Spyderco did discontinue the mighty SE Millie almost 2 years ago now and I've been crying about it ever since :( . I've kept a close eye on what SE Millie's pop up for sale as this is a work knife I cannot live without. In the past 18 months or so I could count on one hand how many S30V SE Millie's I've seen for sale, though not to worry the 440V SE millie's come up for sale more regularly as these are seen to be a bit more collectable and also much better performers. Prices on "the bay" and here for the 440v's vary from $60- 120 for users and about 140 upwards for NIB's. Also check out Country Knives if you can afford MRSP.

I much prefer plain edge, except for the military. It is the one knife, to me, that is just supposed to be serrated.

440V/ S60V compared to S30V has far greater wear resistance, and will hold a working edge for very long time. I haven't encountered the pesky chipping problems that I get with S30v either. There is down side , 440V can be a bear to sharpen, burr removal can be tricky at times and it isn't always the easiest steel to get that "screaming sharp" edge on. The key as always is not to let the edge get dull, and touch up it reguarly.

FWIW There are some other thing's which differ with these early Millies too:
  • single nested liner vs dual nested liners
  • eccentric pivot (fully adjustable) vs "D" pivot
  • nylon?? or nytralon?? washers v's copper?? (someone please correct me here, what's the right name for the thin reddish clear washer?)

For SE Millie's I'll pick the 440V every time. Remember this might be as close as we'll ever get to an SE S90V Millie

My experiences are similar.

FWIW (curiosity mostly?), those old washers were Kapton, sometimes (mis)spelled catpon.

thanks guys. I guess I'll go ahead and pick up the 440v. I cant believe I never realized how awesome the Military is until recently. I always thought it was too big for an edc knife but it carries as well or better than knives half its size. The only negative thing about seeing the light is that all my other awesome edc folders dont get any pocket time. Ever since the day that I got my XHP the Millie in some form or another has been my only edc folder.
