Little bored today and I know this is somewhere in the forum but the search function is crapping out. Tell me which you prefer and why. For all around everyday use and practicality. I know what I like but I would like to hear your opinions. Thanks

If the knife is shaving sharp you shold be able to do everything you could with a serrated blade.

My SE salt is shaving sharp, it won't leave a clean cut on a box I was trying to make. My PE mini manix cut it like a scaple.

I usually can't make up my mind- Thank God for combo edges!

Plain all the way. I traded off my Military because it was a combo edge, and I didn't like the coating any more. Now, I am almost rocking back and forth, muttering "where is the precious".

I'm not going to say PE is better, but it's what I prefer and I don't have any SE knives anymore. Like people said before, if it's sharpened properly, it should be able to do what a SE can do, but possibly not as quickly as a SE.

Just my 2 cents.

I am a PE guy. I do have serrated knives and carry them but I tend to reach for my PE ones 9 times outa 10. Now when I am boating or kyaking I strongly favor serrations for any and all rope duty or "quick cuts" since the serrations tend to bite into wet materials better imo.

Your right, it's in the forum ... keep trying .. don't give up ..... it will help with your boredom ....
quitters never win ....

Plain edge here. Funny thing is, 3-4 years ago, everyone seemed to love combo edges, now almost everyone prefers plain edge.

WOW, a Plain Edge landslide here! Well, I have carried both combo and plain blades, I never found a whole lot of use for the combos, but for some reason think they add something to the knife you know? But I like plain edges, if you keep em sharp they will do anything a serrated edge could do. Now, If I was planning on cutting through some 3/4" Poly rope all day, give me the biggest baddest Serrated edge there is! For everything else, PE does the job for me.

Well ... on the knives I have I am at about 70% (or more) plain, 20% combo and 10% (or less) fully serrated. I do prefer plain. I read an article that the combo was more popular with the active military in Iraq than with the civilian market back home and have wondered if that is really true.

PEOPLE! We are Knife-Knuts. So, wouldn't it make sense if all of us carried TWO knives with us? One PE and one SE. Thats what I do. We don't need no stinkin' combo edges. :)

I very much prefer PE knives. I do not carry a serrated knife. Although, I accidentally purchased a CE knife a few years ago. I keep it in my truck. ALL my other knives ARE PE.
