for those of you who have used both the molle back sheath and the molle clip(s) on yr rc knives, which do you prefer and why?
wanting to pick up the rc3 with orange handle and really prefer serrations, but couldnt find the orange with serration and the molle back anywhere. so would like some info on the differnces in usage. i have a izula and use the molle clip. and like it just fine, seems there is more substantial retention with the molle back sheathe(jump proof n all). how does that affect release?...so what it boils down to, is should i forego the serrations and go for the molle back? thanks

To get what you want, why not order the RC-3 OD (orange slabs) then order a molle back separately. I like the molle back for it's retention and different carry options. I have it on my RC-3 and 4.

The molle back can be ordered on RATS website: www.ratcutlery.com/optional.htm

I like and use both the molle clips and the molle back. I decide which one to use based on the application. The molle clips work great when attaching to a pack or a drop leg subload but I do not prefer them for belt use on a molle belt. On a molle belt, I use the molle back since it allows the knife handle to sit even with the belt rather than extended above it where it can be uncomfortable at times.

I also like the molle back when I know I will be breaking heavy brush. The added rentention is nice and the little elastic cover is great for making the knife nearly snag proof.

I ordered a plain edge RC-3MIL specifically because it came with both the clips and the back, and because it has the canvas micarata slabs that I prefer. You can order which ever knife you want and then purchase the sheath accessories later.
