serrations on a WE

I know Clay is working on a prototype for sharpening serrations on the Wicked Edge. Being the impatient type I just took one of the paddles and rubber banded a Sharpmaker triangle stone to the WE paddle (on the finger grip side) and went at it.

Worked pretty slick. I got a useable edge in about 5 minutes, where it would have taken me 30 minutes on the Sharpmaker (I'm notoriously slow). Not a perfect solution, but it's workable in a pinch. I used the brown stones as a test, but you could use any of the 4 grits the same way.

Just thought I'd share.

Thanks for sharing.

Did the brown stone load up quickly? Were you satisfied enough with the results that you're not interested in anything else for serrated edges?

Good sharpening,
Dave

Not that I noticed, at least not to the point that it got less aggressive. And it's easy to rotate it to get a clean corner. Until you don't have any clean corners anyway. ;)

I'd prefer to have something a little more elegant, but it works well as far as I took it, which was to just get my Delica cutting again. This is a beater knife I got off ebay and is in really rough shape. I haven't gone through a stone progression with it, just wanted to see if it would work. It apparently does, so for those who already have a Sharpmaker (or the stones) it's a no-cost no-brainer for sharpening serrations on the WE.
