Why doesnt anyone make a setup for doing serrations? Maybe someone DOES? Sometimes customers ask for them AND I would like to accomodate them.. I am looking for a way to do them in-shop and would like to hear anyone that has made a machine or knows of said machine that would fit the bill?? Thanks again for all the help..

Hi Trace

I've just gone through this quest. Several people suggested dressing a grinding wheel to the pattern that I wanted and then just keeping it dressed for consistency. There are apparently a few companies out there who such a wheel already made. The problem I had there is that these are made only for a straight part of the edge and I was serrating the belly of the blade. I wound up doing the serrations by hand with a diamond riffler file and it turned out quite nicely. I'm also considering making a jig for the dremmel. If you can picture the dremmel in a vise at the appropriate angle and just feeding the blade into it with a stop in place to keep the depth consistent. All that remains is to keep the spacing even and that too could be worked into the jig with a little thought.
