How do you guys sharpen your serrated cold steels? It seems pretty much impossible to me, which is why I stay away from them.

or send it back to cold steel and they can sharpen them...at leasy they used too...not sure anymore, but yeah i avoid them myself. plain edge i prefer.

I have seen these before. I actually have a 50/50 Recon 1 and Voyager so I shouldnt say I stay away, more like I am hesitate about thrashing on the serrations because once they are dull thats pretty much it for the knife.

The thing about their serrations is they are great for what they were designed for not for utility. Best to keep them factory fresh for those special moments haha

What are people cutting with the CS serrations that has made them chip?

I have the best luck with serrations by stropping the back edge of them. As in I strop the side of the blade where the serrations are on the opposite side ofnwherenthenserration scallops are cut. This isn't idealnbut it seems to really extend the cutting life of all the serrations I've sonfar encountered.

Well you're probably right, I agree with you that the serrations on the larger knives and specialty blades like the black talon are to make them more lethal, but the regular sized knives I do use pretty hard. Would be a shame to put them in a drawer when they dull.

I have never owned a CS w/serrations. What is the opinion of them compared to other offerings. Like I have a Spyderco Pacific Salt with SE and it is a cutting machine and easy to touch up on the Sharpmaker.

IMO Spyderco serrations are fantastic, they cut like crazy and are easy as hell to sharpen. Cold Steel serrations cut great but I just havnt figured out how to sharpen them yet due to the incredibly tiny scallops.
