serria sups

MUCH prefer the issue canteen cup for this role. The sierra cup is a civilian cup which falls very short in utility when comparred.

i haqd carried one for a while, but the G.I. canteen cup is a whole lot bigger and better for my uses. it can boil water, is shaped better to carry, will hold your survival kit inside it. you can cook in it better. so i have not bothered with the small or large sierra cup for a while. i also like some of those surplus german/swedish mess kits for a survival kit carrier. they are fairly compact, have a lid and will hold your whole survival kit as well as work as a cooking/water purifying container. i think i bought them from cheaper than dirt or sportsmans guide. also bought a couple of the gi type cups from sportsmans guide , they work pretty well for my needs.

I believe these came out several decades ago. The Sierra Club members wore theirs hooked under their belts on hikes, so they could easily stoop down and drink refreshing, untreated creek water :footinmou Commentators have mentioned that these cups were more status symbol, than useful utensil.

I've got a US canteen cup/Natick stove and the Sierra Cup. The Cup is rolling around unused, behind the seat of my truck, for emergencies. On the other hand, the canteen cup is used constantly. It has more than proven itself over the years, and is well loved.

You may want to "discover" the squareish British Mess Tin. Mine is fast becoming a favorite. I wonder when REI will turn them out in titanium ;)

We've always kept one hanging on the water can with a piece of cord. The only thing they have going for them is they drip dry -- no corners to trap water when hung up.

thankz all
but i use the british army mess tin as my standard cooking pot, i was thinking about a serria cup,...but now...i think not
