I just received a Service ceremonial khukuri (the second of my collection and first actual Nepalese make khukuri). The blade is marked simply "Nepal 2000", fit and finish are high and the black patent leather sheath is well made and the accesory knives are decent. It is 15" OA and has the slightly small handle. Blade and handle are highly polished and honed to the actual edge. It looks just like the Ghurka House ceremonial, does anyone know which outfit in Nepal could have made this one?

P.S. I am rapidly becoming an obsessed khukuri knut, as if being an obsessed novice bladesmith weren't enough! Logical sequence here-I am compelled to make one soon!

I should have done this to begin with, here is a picture of said khuk:

I'd say it came form Khukuri House, if I were to make a SWAG. Are there 2 accessory knives? (But I'm not well schooled in these things quite yet.)

Purty thayng, ain't it?!

Hey Dan, the Khukuri House was my first guess also, but I don't know enough about these yet to know for sure. Both accesory knives are present and seem well made also. I'm quite pleased with it and am amazed at the thickness at the spine, (nearly half an inch) Is this standard of most khuks of this size? It's great having finally received a properly sharpened khuk, I did not know that they were sharpened much like Scandinavian knives with no secondary edge bevel.

Yup! That's Khukuri House, no doubt about it. However, it's a bit far-fetched to say the spine is almost half an inch.

I've got a letter from Lalit explaining why he stamps them like that, with the word NEPAL and the year date. You might research my thread on the SN1 on GH Bladeforums. :)

Hey Johan, you're right, the spine is 4/10ths of an inch at it's widest.:D
I'll definitely look up your post on the SN1. There is still lots here I haven't read.
