As some may know I enjoy putting my take on working vintage slipjoints from time to time. As it happens I was sent a pair of knives to look at and come up with my rendition by a good customer. He sent a Case and Robeson example. Originally I was asked to build one in bone covers and one in Ebony. After thinking about it for a bit I approached my customer and asked "what about doing a what if, fancy version"? I was glad when he agreed. I had a blast building these two knives along with the challenges presented. This was a first for me as far as the bail goes.

These are smaller knives than the pictures convey, at only 3 3/8 closed length. Both knives feature D2 blades and springs, while the covers are pearl and my dyed and jigged bone.

Stunning!
Both are awesome, prefer the jigged bone, but I can see the attraction of the pearl...Sunday-go-to-meeting rope knife?

The knives look great Ken, someone should be very happy with those.:thumbup::cool:

Thanks for showing them.

Ken, can you explain how you made the bail, or is that a trade secret? Also, do you, or any of the other makers that are sure to visit this thread, have a tutorial on cutting slipjoint swedges?

Fantastic! I love seeing you very experienced guys' work. It gives me something to shoot for.

Thanks for the comments guys!

I will be emailing you shortly concerning the bail and swedges, thanks for the questions!

Great work, Ken! One fine knife for an old Salt, and one presentation grade knife for a guy who worked his way up through the ranks!
Can't wait to see them in person!;)
