Just got my 18 inch EvenHeat oven. I knew it was on its way yesterday and all day and night beautiful blades of all kinds of steel, some with scale, some without, danced in my head. Its to the hardware store tomorrow to buy the stuff I need to convert the electrical outlet. Let the sparks fly; I'm going to be dangerous now.
A regular high temp. chef I tell ya.

I have one just like that. You are going to love it! I dont do much stainless but use it all the time for annealing and tempering carbon steel.

Are there any nasty suprises I should be aware of; like when I open the door to remove a 1950 degree blade? Will my eyes and ears go into melt down?

Wear saftey gear!
The light is not good on your eyes, The heat will burn your skin off.
Its just a few small details!:D

yes and if you grow a beard wet it down first
also if you ride a bike don't smile when you open the door
it will cook the bugs you got from the last ride :D
up to 2300 deg gets pretty warm up font of that thing
whe you open her up.
just get use to it be safe..

I've test driven her to 1400 F.. Tomorrow I may cut a sample piece of ATS-34 and test that. Before that, though, I may harden a sample of O1 at 1500. I know I'll have to open the door at the quenching temp. for that one.

Yes it is hot when you open the door and grab out pouches at 1950. Ive lost some arm hair using too short of tongs and gloves. 1500 wont be too bad but be careful. Invest in welding gloves and long tongs.

like Bruce said
I'm afraid your going to have to open it for the ATS34 too
it needs to be quenched also, by air or oil one or the other..
edited because I can't spell:(
