"Setting" a lock on a liner lock????

I have a new (to me) terzuola atcf. I think it is new or damn near, and the previous owner said it was unused/stayed in the drawer. First I noticed a problem with the liner lock, it was hard as hell to disengage. I called Mr. Terzuola this morning and he told me to do a few spine whacks to "set" the lock (and if that did not set it to my satisfaction to send it to him). Now it is normal to disengage the lock, but it goes further over, sometimes almost all the way to the other side. Before it engaged right left of center, now it is usually a tad right of center, and over sometimes. Any idea what happened or is wrong? Is this something that will fix over time during a "break in" period, or should I go ahead and ship my knife back?
any experience shared is appreciated.
cheers,

Send it back to Bob. I have handled several of his knives and no problems with any of them. He will undoubtedly make it work right.

I agree with the recommendation to send it back to the maker. The problem that you are describing will not remedy itself. In my opinion liners should be fully engaged on the left or leading side of the ramp. Any wear, and I haven't ever seen much, will move the liner toward the center. When the liner hits the center of the ramp and/or moves beyond it to the right or backside of the ramp I get uncomfortable.

Man this is loaded post.

The balance between stays open and closes on your fingers is to fine.

Some folks like the locks to stick . Some dont. I like um to stay open.

Whats your choice?

I would consider the knife here a good one.
